Ruin on the River is set in Asheville - donating 100% of profits
And 25% of profits of all my other book titles to BeLoved Asheville
If you’ve seen any of the reports about Western North Carolina in the last week, you know the area is devastating.
My parents live there. In a small town southeast of there. Fortunately, they’re safe and while their house had some damage, they still have a house. So many people do not.
Electricity is starting to return. It could be weeks before there’s running water. I can’t even begin to catalog the losses.
I’ve been visiting the area since my parents moved there in 2014. It’s their forever home. They love it. I love it. Anyone I’ve met who lives there or has been there loves it.
My fourth novel, Ruin on the River, is set there. Most of the locations in the book are fictional, but they’re inspired by real places.
I’m donating 100% of profits from this book, both e-book and print editions, to BeLoved Asheville. If you haven’t read the other books in the series, it’s OK. I’ve written them all to be read as stand-alones, although you’ll have more of an insider glimpse of the characters if you read them all.
But you don’t have to. You can read Ruin by itself.
If you want to read the others, and any of my non-fiction travel books, I’m donating 25% of the profits from those as well.
I’m not putting an end date on these donations. They’re going to need help for a long time. I won’t be able to do this indefinitely, but if I can do something, I’d like to.
I chose BeLoved Asheville because I’ve seen it recommended by many, many people and organizations on the ground. I can also use Zelle or Venmo, so as soon as I get paid, I can pay them.
These donations are only for books bought directly from me. I don’t get paid for retail sales for months, and they need the help now.
Of course, you don’t have to buy anything to help! You can go directly to BeLoved Asheville and give them the money directly. But, if you’re thinking of buying a book, know that a portion of your purchase will go to help them.
